College Board

Message from our College Board Chair, Matthew Lambert

Dear Members of the Hammond Park Secondary College Community,

It is with great enthusiasm and a profound sense of responsibility that I step into the role of Chair of the Board at Hammond Park Secondary College. I am deeply honoured to be entrusted with this position, and I am eager to build upon the robust foundation laid by my predecessor, Julie Cureton - the inaugural chair, whose significant contributions have been pivotal in steering our college since its inception. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to her and to the past board members for their unwavering dedication and visionary leadership.

As we continue on this journey, I, along with the board, remain committed to upholding the standard of excellence in school governance that has been the hallmark of our college. Our focus will steadfastly be on supporting the strategic direction set by the college, with a special emphasis on student needs and outcomes. These are not just priorities but the very essence of our mission.

I am particularly excited about collaborating with Joanne Willesee and her exceptional team at HPSC. Together, we are poised to navigate the unique opportunities and challenges that come with guiding an educational institution of such caliber. My personal commitment to student safety and wellbeing is unwavering. I firmly believe in creating an environment that is not only safe and welcoming but also nurturing - a haven where learning thrives, and high achievement is the norm.

My background in the disability services sector over the past 21 years has instilled in me a humanistic approach to all aspects of life, particularly education. This experience has been enriching and enlightening, allowing me to appreciate and value diversity, inclusivity, and the unique potential of each individual. I bring this perspective to my role as the Chair of the Board, hoping to contribute meaningfully to the inclusive and holistic educational experience at our college.

I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to the current members of the board for their commitment and drive. I am excited about working with such a dedicated and capable team. Together, we look forward to ushering the college into its next chapter, particularly as we anticipate with joy, having all year groups, from Year 7 to Year 12, represented in the next two years.

To the students, faculty, families, and our broader community, I assure you that your voices and aspirations are integral to the decisions we make and the paths we choose. Your involvement, feedback, and support are not just welcomed but essential for our collective success.

As we embark on this journey together, let us continue to foster an environment of mutual respect, understanding, and shared vision. Here's to the exciting times ahead for Hammond Park Secondary College.
